Assistant Manager for Grocery/Service Station: Our client having developed a well-established, award winning, busy store and forecourt, (with a recent total upgrade) now wishes to employ an assistant manager. The successful candidate must be energetic, enthusiastic, honest, and accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with supermarket/convenience store experience as well as capable of finding solutions to day to day issues. They will be required to work back to back with the owner in order to ensure that the maximum trading hours are overseen by management. Also, it will be necessary to liaise with in house accountant re margins, costings, retails, ordering and regulations. It will be important to maintain the existing, friendly, excellent interaction between customers, staff and owners while ensuring the control and professionalism of a well-managed site. Duties to include staff motivation, monitoring, upselling, rosters, wage control, training, incentives and productivity. Shop/Store/Forecourt: Stock control levels, merchandising, scanning, sell by dates, shrinkage and wastage, etc. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise the forecourt attendants in relation to presentation and cleanliness and to maintain the highest standards in particular with regard to pumps, public toilets and surrounding planting. Ensuring our continued success in the annual 5 Star and Q Mark awards. Sales targets, increases, cost reduction, retails weekly/monthly figures, new ideas, offers etc. An ability to carry out day to day light repairs/rebooting of standard fixtures and equipment ensuring minimum downtime. A knowledge of and training in HACCP, hygiene standards, H & S, fire control, first aid, stationmaster would be an advantage. Need to attend some conferences and sales days and report back relevant information. Salary is negotiable (with an agreed trial period and review) and introduction of bonus system.
